The WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub is a partnership between MTPConnect (Australia’s life sciences innovation accelerator), the Western Australian Government, and The University of Western Australia, created to support the growth of WA’s medtech, biotech, pharmaceutical, and digital health sectors.
We focus on three key areas:
Connect – Think of us as your concierge service: we help innovators, researchers, and businesses connect with the right people, resources, and capabilities. Whether you're seeking strategic introductions or access to specialised support, our team is here to help.
Propel - Whether you’re a startup, researcher, or industry partner exploring new opportunities, we’re here to support your commercialisation journey. We provide strategic guidance; help navigate non-dilutive and investor funding and connect you with the right networks. We also equip the next generation of innovators with the tools for success through Perth Biodesign, from hands-on medtech innovation programs (Flagship & bootcamps) to research-industry engagement through industry PhD internships (iPREP).
Transform – We strengthen the sector through skills development, events, and by sharing the achievements of WA’s life sciences community. Our aim is to foster collaboration, strengthen the ecosystem, and contribute to positioning Western Australia as a global leader in health and medical life sciences.
Why work with us
The WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub is your front door to connect with the West Australian biotech and pharma sector. As a partnership between the state government, the University of Western Australia and MTPConnect, an independent not-for-profit Australian life sciences accelerator, we operate at the interface of government, industry and academia to support the growth of the state's life sciences sector.
We’re nationally connected through MTPConnect and have global links through Biodesign Australia. WALSIH is also part of the WA Government’s network of Innovation Hubs, alongside CyberWest, the WA Data Science Innovation Hub, the GreenTech Hub, and the Creative Tech Village.
